I have taken notice that in video cameras, special receptors help to concentrate automatically.
The sensors of some camcorders change in contrast, while others make use of a beam associated with infra-red (IR) light, especially in low light. Higher specs cameras from time to time use a blend of both models and may have Face Priority AF where the digicam can 'See' your face while focusing only on that.
